FAQ’s About Silver
Sterling silver is a silver alloy meaning it is a combination of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. There is no nickel in sterling silver and therefore, should be safe for those with sensitive skin allergies to nickel. However, everyone is different and some people may still find they react to this metal.
Product Cleaning & Care
To keep your sterling silver tarnish free, keep it in a small air tight plastic bag when not wearing it. Chemicals in the air, in the water and products we use, along with oils from your skin can speed up the oxidization process leaving a black layer on the metal.
I recommend cleaning your jewellery on a regular basis. You can use hot soapy water (mild dish detergent is best), rinse with clean water and dry using a soft cotton cloth. Resist using paper towel or previously used cloth as it could scratch the surface of the metal. Or gently use a toothbrush with a small amount of toothpaste. Be sure to rinse thoroughly. Once clean and dry, you can store the piece in an air tight plastic bag. A polishing cloth specifically for silver can also be used to remove early signs of oxidization. Pieces with stones or beads need to be treated with care as some methods could affect the colouring and the integrity of the stones or settings.
